INDY at NEW ENG(3.5) 43

after watching indy dismantle a defenseless kc team it's going to do my heart good to see them get thier shit handed to them by the eventual superbowl champion patriots.
(we do realize by now new england goes all the way, right?)

INDY 14-4 .777%
NE 15-2 .882%

#1 play the team with the 10% or higher winning percentage..15-4 ats since 94 (2-2 this year)

#2 play against any team that scored 30 or more in the wild card round, then scored 27 or more in the divisional round...5-1 ats since 78

#3 play against any team who won and scored 30 or more in the divisional round, won by 21 or less and are on the road in the conference championship game
7-1 ats since 83.
these teams have went...
1-17 su and 3-14-1 ats since 68.

70+ in the playoffs

since 83, 9 teams have scored 70+ points in consecutive playoff games, these teams have gone a combined 2-7 su and ats.

83 wash scored 51 in dv rd and 24 in cc rd, then lost(-3) 38-9 in SB 18
84 mia scored 31 in dv rd and 45 in cc rd, then lost(+3) 38-16 in SB 19
87 minn scored 44 in wc rd and 36 in dv rd, then lost(+3.5) 17-10 in cc rd
87 den scored 34 in dv rd and 38 in cc rd, then lost(-3.5) 42-10 in SB 22
89 sf scored 41 in dv rd and 30 in cc rd, then won(-12.5) 55-10 in SB 24
90 buf scored 44 in dv rd and 51 in cc rd, then lost(-7) 20-19 in SB 25
94 sf scored 44 in dv rd and 38 in cc rd, then won(-18) 49-26 in SB 29
01 st.l scored 45 in dv rd and 29 in cc rd, then lost(-14) 20-17 in SB 36
02 oak scored 30 in dv rd and 41 in cc rd, then lost(-3.5) 48-21 in SB 37

the only 2 wins and covers came from the juggernaut 49er teams.

indy benefitted from being at home with revenge in the wildcard game, then from mild weather and a poor defense in the divisional game.
no benefitting here, outside, in the cold against the most complete team in the league.

beware of the home team dominance stat in the playoffs

last week 0-4 ats

those stats were built up from the dynasty teams before free agency

have everyone noticed the last dynasty

it was dallas cowboys

exactly right after them free agency took place and now we are seeing the after effects

every new year a new superbowl winner

a baltimore team wins the superbowl and blows up the team because it cant keep all the players under the cap

those dynasty teams had players that played only for that team all there career-no more

with free agency there are great offenses loaded w/ stars but cant build a great defense(or the other way around) because of the salary cap- can you say kc chiefs

each team has holes and we saw it this past weekend, the lack of dominance but instead the parity in the div playoffs

any 4 of these teams left can win the superbowl equally

maybe 8 teams if sherman, martz, greg robinson didnt have anything to do w/ it

any pts over 3 is value now days

De Niro, I agree, the SuperBowl race is wide open. Any one of these final four teams can win it. I just wonder how much fight is left in the Dogs after Winning outright. Will any Fav cover this year?

DeNiro...I AM A HOMER...butwhen you speak of dynastys.Pats are not yet..This team has way more talent then the one that won 2 years ago,...and they are still under the salary cap!!!....They have 2 first round draft picks and 2 second round draft picks this year coming.

patriot

pats know how to build a team

those draft picks will make pats superbowl favs for min 3 years

those draft picks will still be cheaper than the overated free agents that most teams overpay

lets see motive

free agents hit the jackpot then become lazy pigs- prove what?? i got my bling bling now

rookie- starting his dream career. they will go through walls for bellichek

free agency is a handicap that most teams cant overcome. pats are the only team to solve this problem. bellicheck has a status now that verygood free agents will come to pats to play for the coach for less pay.

the team over the indiviual

lets say pats are not loosing sleep over dan marino becoming president of miami

pat whats your thoughts on chalie watts off coor

does his 5 yard pass on 3rd and 6 plays drive you nuts
he scares me w/ his play calling and off gameplan sometimes. and i think bellichek knows better but wont say anything because their friends.

De Niro...thats why when they say the Pats have a poor running game they don't know the whole story...those little passes serve as their running game.In windy wintery foxboro its a good offense because you can mke those passes without worrying, also they have recivers that are good at making yards after the catch because they pick on a reciver that is in a one on one match up....This forces the defens to play up...Leaving open the deep pattern...but I agree Charlie Weiss calls can leave you scratching your head at times but 34-14 over the last 3 season 4-0 in playoffs and 1 superbowl is hard to argue with.

With the Patriots being 4-0 in playoffs and Indy 8-1 on the road this year...something has to give.

Indy is defying all the naysayers this playoff season. I think they continue that on their way to the SuperBowl.

doesn't it send up serious red flags all over the place hearing that payton manning is in the zone, can't be stopped, they haven't punted, etc..etc...
litterally every media, show, radio, interview, ex-player comentators, experts, and the entire country is jumping on the manning train?
this guy has already won the game in new england, posted a perfect qb rating and hung 40 on the board, and in all this time who is talking about the patriots?

how many interviews with patriot runningbacks, receivers or coaches are splashed all over the tube?

the more,"how are you gonna stop manning", talk i hear, the more i love this game.

i think this game will see...
#1 payton throw zero touchdowns
#2 vanderjack miss and or get at least 1 fg blocked
#3 a series of qb sacks on indy
#4 colts punt 6-8 times in the game
#5 and what ne has done all year, get out in front and never look back

granted i could be completely wrong, but i believe talk is setting up the biggest haul for las vegas and books across the country as the world gets on the colts bandwagon.

i think it was week 10 or 11 when i said new england just keeps winning, no matter who they play, where they play, and in whatever conditions, cold, hot, rain, snow, high scoring, low scoring, whatever it takes, they just win.

now i'm climbing way out on the "insane limb" but i believe the 70's saw the steelers.
the 80's saw the niners
the 90's saw the cowboys and now this decade is going to see the patriots.
the infrequent interviews i have seen with tom brady looks all the world like the calm and cool demeanor that aikman and montana had before games when the quietly stepped up to the big games and destroyed the competition.

like i said, i could be completely wrong, i've been wrong before(lord knows), but this time i don't think so.

just the game's opinion.

feel free to flame...

Game,
I myself can't believe the hype of Manning since they've looked pretty much flawless in their last 2 games. On the other side New England sits there with an immovable defense and an over looked sqaud all together.

Considering your giving this matchup a GOY a status. (Not sure how since i'm on the fence capping this game). Is your NE -3 pick a "GUT YOUR BOOKIE" or a "1-2 Unit" play?

Thanks, Peet

I will write more on this upon firther research. I realize I have little or no reputation as a capper on this forum, do to me not posting plays. However, and General could back me up on this, I have been very successful on other fora, before moving here. (Yes fora ia a plural for forums, kinda cool huh? )

Anyways, I think most angles point to New ENgland here, especially the fact that the line is soft due to the publics love affair (though it is understandable given mannings last two games.), with Payton and Offense.

New England will be a pretyy big play for me this week. Probably a 3 uniut play, which is rare for me. (I almost always bet 2 units or 1 unit per game)

For the record most of my research tells me the panthers are worth a unit play this week.

Not necessarily.

You said that Manning would come "crashing down to earth" last week too.

Glad to see you're on the NE side!

When the Colts step in front of a Healthy, real defense on Sunday afternoon, they wont get the ball rolling.
Take away the last few weeks and what did they do. Get smoked by the Colts, and Squeak by the Texans. And i do believe this will be the decade of the Patriots, the no- name team who just wins, kind of like the Devils in the NHL. Do your selves a favor and take the Pats Sunday. Good luck to all.

Two important factors contributing to the Colts offensive explosion the past two weeks.

1> Home field turf.

2> Playing against a pathetic defense.

Neither of those factors exist this week.

Having said that, I do have Colts 10-1 winning the Super Bowl.

Cheers

i wouldn't rate this game as a "FINAL DESTINATION" game just yet.
but i would say it is as close as it gets.

when sunday approaches and i see the percentage of players on indy, and it's anything close to a 50-50 split or more, this game goes to a "FINAL DESTINATION" game.

that would mean don't bet the house, but definately bet the garage!

Playing outdoors and in freezing temps....See ya colts, nice run.

I'm leaning towards Carolina, What is your take on this game?

i believe this game will be decided by the kickers. manning and brady will move the ball well between the 40s then bog down. paytons frustration will lead to a couple picks and in the end the colts D gives up one big game deciding play and everyone continues loving perfect payton. defense wins championships so its patriots/panthers in houston in 2 weeks. so im taking indy+3 and carolina+4.5.

Means...

If you are destined for the shitter...
This kind of hype will most certainly get you there!

I am not a Colts fan, but this sort of hype would be funny if not for the fact that it can hurt lots of childish people on the board.

Holy Crap!... Look at the guys name on here and weigh his opinion accordingly.
